
The World Championship of Men’s Volleyball was seen by millions of people
World Championship news : Viewing numbers for the men’s tournament in Poland and Slovenia have further shown the sport’s immense global appeal, with millions across the world enjoying the action in anticipation of the upcoming Volleyball Women’s World Championship, which starts on Friday.
With a combined market share of 25%, RAI 1 and Sky Sports in Italy attracted a high of 4 million people to see the Azzurri’s thrilling 3-1 triumph against co-hosts Poland in the final in Katowice.
Fans in Poland were similarly captivated by Poland’s march to the final, with TVP and Polsat drawing a combined peak viewership of 13.1 million for the country’s semifinal triumph against Brazil (6.5m) and the final (6.7m). Overall, each match averaged almost 40% of the market share across both platforms.

In Brazil, where the South American team also won bronze, the final weekend drew 4.5 million viewers.
Over the course of the tournament, over 600,000 unique users saw 38.8 million minutes of action on Volleyball Globe TV, Volleyball World’s OTT platform. These viewers were reached via broadcast agreements encompassing 90 regions across the world. 17.5 million people watched videos from the event period that were released to the Volleyball World YouTube channel. These videos featured longer highlights from each match and the Quick Set show.
Over 40 million people were reached by Volleyball World’s Facebook and Instagram pages between August 26 and September 12 as a result of the championship’s popularity there. Since then, over 1.5 million people have engaged with the brand as a result. For the same time period, tweets from the Volleyball World account had almost 12 million impressions and 645,000 interactions on Twitter.

The Volleyball World Championship is the pinnacle of international team events, and it’s great to see that fans are eager to follow the action via a variety of digital channels.
